Combining Procedures — What Can Be Done Together?
Sometimes it is more efficient. Sometimes it is safer to stage. The decision is anatomical and anaesthetic, not commercial.
Combining procedures can make sense when the operations are in similar regions, use the same anaesthetic, and the total theatre time remains safely within limits — for example, breast augmentation with an abdominoplasty after childbearing, or upper and lower blepharoplasty together.
Combining is not sensible when total theatre time becomes long, blood loss adds up, or recovery restrictions from one operation conflict with another. In those cases, staging over 3–6 months gives a safer anaesthetic, a cleaner recovery and often a better final result.
